CCMI today released “Trends and Best Practices to Control International Roaming Costs,” commissioned by Truphone, the world’s first truly global mobile operator. The report, based on research gathered following a survey of Fortune 1000 companies, details the key financial and operational impact exorbitant international mobile roaming costs have on multinational enterprises.
Key findings of the survey include:
- 40 percent of companies are forbidding or curtailing critical business usage while abroad to help manage costs
- 24 percent said that they have lost business as a result of roaming costs
- 37 percent of companies surveyed spend $1,000 or more per month per user on average wireless roaming costs for their international travelers
Individual responses revealed stories of single monthly bill charges ranging from $10,000 to $200,000!
George David, President of CCMI, said, “It was always clear, through primarily anecdotal information, that international roaming costs are a big, and growing, problem. Now, this survey puts hard numbers on the issue and dramatically underscores the real dimensions of the problem for enterprises.” He added, “Equally significant is the fact that despite formal mandates to rein in roaming coast at more than one-half of the companies, the problem – and expense – continues to grow exponentially.”
The study reveals other key findings related to roaming expenditures, alternatives corporations are using to offset roaming costs, travel trends and more. Click here (http://www.thevoicereport.com/Roaming) to download the white paper and learn more.
